Billie Piper's recent return to the top of the UKcharts with smash hit 'DAY & NIGHT', dramatically reaffirmed the seventeen year olds postion as Queen of UK Pop. After an absence of over a year, the slighty older and much wiser popstar confounded critics and doubters with her fourth number one hit, arenewed vigour and beautiful new look.
"It really feels like I'm back now," she says. "I love writing and recording but I'm a performe first and foremost. Now that I'm touring again and getting the chance to play to my fans it's the best feeling in the world. Somethimes it's exhausing but I wouldn't miss it for anything."
'SOMETHING DEEP INSIDE', the follow up to 'DAY & NIGHT' is more proof if needed, that BILLIE PIPER's star is in the asscedant and this highly talanted British artist will be competing and succeding on the world stage for many years to come. This up- tempo song showcases a confidently soulful vocal performance and is supported by sweeping strings, a fantastically catchy hook feel.
Billie says "I am not trying to play to a new audience- I'm just growing up with my fans. My music is stronger now because I am and this is something that a lot my peers can relate to."
BILLIE has always been hard to ignore and with this new single there will be no escaping her.

HEADING: BILLIE PIPER's NEW ALBUM 'WALK OF LIFE'- 2nd OCTOBER.

Billie is back with a new album, 'Walk Of Life'. Showcasing a diversity of sounds from stripped back acoustic numbers, to smooth r'n'b, to powerful contemporary pop gems, her new album is set to continue where Billie's record- breaking debut, 'Honey To the Bee', left off.
'Walk Of Life' features 12 new tracks including 5 co- written by Billie. She began work on the new album in April 99 following her first tour of the States. In October she hooked up with the highly regarded pop producer Elliot Kennedy- who has previously worked with the likes of the Spice Girls, 5ive and Celine Dion. "I was relly keen to try out my writing skills," says Billie, who had already written one track, 'Love Groove', on the 'Honey To The Bee' album. "On the first album, I was basically saying that I was young and happy and that everything was great," she says. "This time, I wanted to sing about real things, whether they were good or bad. The songs are much more personal. They have a real meaning and truth 'Because Of You' is one of my favourite tracks. I wrote it with Elliot. It's about becoming a woman, dealing with the fact that you're not a kid anymore and how scary that can seem. 'Misfocusing' is probably the saddest track on the album. It's very chilled and laid- back. It's about the negative side of success, which is something I had never even thought about until I experieced it".
The title track to the album is a surprising acoustic number which Billie co- wrote with long time collaborators Jim Marr & Wendy Page. The album also features a very different cover of the Blondie classic 'Tide Is High'- "I've always loved this song and i couldn't resist covering it- I hope I haven't murdered it too much, but if you aren't going to try to do something a little different whats the point?"
Besides these Billie collaborated with a number of writes and producers, including Rick Mitra & Pam Sheyne (Christine Aguilera) & Stargate. The up & coming duo Later Inc supplied the sexy powerful 'Ring My Bell' wich, alongside 'Run That By Me' and the new single 'Something Deep Inside', give Billie a contemporary r'n'b feel that enables her to take on the pop acts who have arrived in her absece. "The competition is really tough at the moment," she says. "That's why I'm glad I took time out to work carefully on this album."

After having a huge come- back hit with her number one single DAY AND NIGHT, Billie talks about her time away, her new album and life again at the top of the pop heap...
After over a year out of the pop spotlight, Billie burst back onto the scene only recently with her number one single Day And Night and is set to release her fab new album Walk Of Life any day now. Now that Billie is all over the place again it's hard to imagine how we ever lived without her. So just what was our very own Brit pop gal up to all that time? 'I went over to America to do loads of promotion' smiles Billie. 'I also toured for three months while I was there... But really I had a little break and caught up with my old friends and family'.
In that time Billie's also managed to slap together a pretty fabbo album. Though 'slap' is probably not the best word to use, after all it's taken over six months to get just right! 'I haven't rushed into anything. I just took time to think about what direction I wanted my music to go in... I'm excited about it 'cos I have co- written most of the tracks on the album'.
Now that she's refreshed, full of beans and has a brill new alb on the way, Billie couldn't be more excited about all the success she is having. Maybe her fab new image has something to do with it. Who could forget sweet and fresh faced Billie when she first hit the scene, bopping about in her combats and trainers. Now that she;s older though, Billies got a new, more sophisticated look, not mention those new blonde locks!
Don't be mustaken though, she may look all grown up and adult- y now but Billie assures us that she's still just a fun loving teen at heart! 'I still love to party and hang out with my mates, when I get the chance' she giggles!
Unfortunately, life hasn't all been a bed of roses for Billie lately, splitting from boyf Rich Five after spending 18 nonths together with him. The two young poppers even shared a home in London. Billie is moving on now, although she still has their dog Milo to remind her of their time together.
With the future looking as bright as it does for Billie (hope she's got a good pair of shades, heh- heh!) she couldn't be happier to be back entertaining us lot with her fabtabulous pop! 'I've been away and recharged my batteries and now I'm ready to take on the world... To be honest I've missed all of this and I'm so glad to be back!'
But wouldn't she rather be just a normal person and be able to walk down the street without being recognised?! No way, this gal was born to be a star! 'I still act normal when I go home, but after experiencing so much, i like the fame, I could never be just normal again- I'm too ambitious!'
